I finally went to the doctor's office today for this cough that I've had for weeks, and the lady gave me two prescriptions: one anti-biotic and the other is an inhaler. So, I got to CVS and handed a printed copy of my insurance card. They told me 15 min later that I gave them the wrong thing and they needed a separate medical card JUST FOR MEDICINE. Why do we have so many different cards?
Either case, they gave me the break down of the two prescriptions if I didn't have the card. They would have been $99 and over $200, respectively. I wasn't paying either. It's a good thing I have insurance, but it's insane to think that if you didn't, you would have to pay those ridiculous amounts. No wonder the sick poor stay sick AND poor. I'm sure some are wasting their entire savings on drugs.
